Mills was horrible on his feet.
Please educate me. My understanding is that, because he was ethnic Uzbek, Fadzaez was never really embraced by the Soviet Ministry of Sport, and was undermined, and only tolerated because he won, and that if he was embraced and treated fairly he wouldve won more world titles in the four years between his last competition for Russia and Uzbekistan. Is this fair? As a Canadian I am proud that Chris Wilson has the distinction of being the only wrestler to beat him twice, even though he couldn't translate that into world and olympic titles.

Beautiful! Such pure technique!
It's amazing Dan's opponent sucked a ton of weight it's amazing their size difference. It looks to be 20 plus pounds difference. That's a lot when you're wrestling.
Legend has it they're still looking for Keith Richards
I always say that Dave was and is the most technically talented wrestler in USA history. Anyone wrestled him and anyone who ever trained with or under him always raves about how smart Dave was on the mat
Really the beginning of Johns dominance for 10 years
Todo muy gay, abrazándose en el piso. Terrible 😂😂😂😂

Mean Gene Mills
That Russian looked like he could bench press about 100 lbs. more than Smith, but Smith still beat him. I think Smith always gets that low single leg because he is more limber in his hips than most wrestlers.
That’s awesome.
Excellent technique but no for Olympic style wrestling. I use this DWL throw alot & what Mark failed to do is kick over and elevate his opponent over for the roll. You can see it clearly but also his opponent pushed his hips back to stop the roll with can be a travesty . No question both are amazing inspirational wrestlers, I even look up to them. But the technique shouldnt have happen the way it did.
Necmi gencalp bu mark chultz u çok kötü yendi Seul olimpiyatlarında 14. 0 skorla ezerek yendi iyide oldu tabiki 👍💯🇹🇷
Necmi GENÇALP onu yendi ama yaralanan kolu yüzünden finali kaybetti.
How come Lewis never placed in the Worlds?
I think he only wrestled in the 82 worlds before he went on and won the 84 Olympics? Anyway, he got the shaft in this match and I guess it put him out of medal contention.
Vito is my new FAVORITE wrestler after destroying ALL of NCAA 135 lb elites like NOTHING!
Love the fans yelling stalling on the bottom man not trying to escape...LOL.
I wrestled Ricky Delegatta in NCAA placing rounds. Very good counter wrestler and a decent gentleman.
Dellagatta
Sorry about that Anna. This iPhone spell checks me sometimes and I forget to check it! I know how to spell Ricky’s last name! Please say hello to him for me
Wow- I just watched the Mongolian wrestler all but KILL Gene Mills-really dominant-man against boy. How why he just GAVE up the takedown?? Did he just fade-tired-amazing-he was really handling the Russian-then-he died-ran out of gas
Siz dünyanın en iyi pervamızsınız sizin yolunuz dayma açık olsun..allah...
Of course this ball of blubber did greco.
When you make Tom Brands look like a JV wrestler you are really good
Anatoli must've run out of gas for him to let Mills reverse and turn him like that. Those were the days when they had 3-3-3 with a one-minute break in-between. Gene Mills was really one of the good guys of wrestling. He was always respectful of his opponents, even when he destroyed them.
Great match. Lewis won the next two matches, 5-3, 16-4, to make the Olympic team, and the Gold medal. Great depth that year at this weight, as Lewis also had to overcome future Gold medalist Smith also.
No, it was John Smith's older brother Lee Roy who was in the weight class that year.
M. Schultz is a typical s. of b. who do not care about rules and others' life/health.. he is just a shit, regardless his medals which have no soul !
That was a sambo move😮
